patterns of ink

How fruitless to be ever thinking yet never embrace a thought... to have the power to believe and believe it's all for naught. I, too, have reckoned time and truth (content to wonder if not think) in metaphors and meaning and endless patterns of ink. Perhaps a few may find their way to the world where others live, sharing not just thoughts I've gathered but those I wish to give. Tom Kapanka

Allow Me to Introduce My Grandson Charlie!

It has been a beautiful week here in West Michigan. All of my family was home for Memorial Day Weekend, and it truly felt like the beginning of summer. Just days before, Emily's doctor told her Charlie could come "any time," which was welcome news to all.

Kim and Nate were here from Chicago, and Kim was hoping the baby would come while she was home. So...on Saturday, they hiked up to the top of the dune stairway at North Beach--that is a serious hike even when you’re not "full term," but nothing happened. Then Sunday, we did the long walk to the beach at Hoffmaster State Park... no Charlie. Then Monday night Emily and the gang took a long walk at the Grand Haven board walk and pier... still no Charlie.

Kim and Nate headed back to Chicago at 9:00AM Tuesday morning and then in the quiet of Keith and Emily's home, all the weekend hiking kicked in...She checked into the hospital before noon and Charlie arrived at 9:00PM. (8 lbs 1 oz. 20 inches long)

As those of you who read here know, I don't do Facebook--too much drama--but every now and then I do use my blog for personal news flashes. Allow me to introduce you all to our new grandson Charlie.

Nora is already proving to be a great "big sister."
